What's new
New features in Mixgar
1. Set place style
Setting this allows you to play music in your place, even when:
nobody has checked in to your place
you haven’t added favorite artists to your profile
your music preferences are excluded from the playlist as you don’t want to influence it with you own music (advanced settings)
(You can set this when creating your place.) Select your favorite styles (dance, pop, rock etc). These will define your place’s “preferred” music.
2. Filters
Creating a filter enables you to allow and restrict certain styles in your place. Allowing styles means that only those artists who belong to the given style will feature in the playlist. Restricting styles excludes them entirely from the playlist.
3. Streaming quality
You need an internet connection to play the videos, as we’re streaming the music for your place through YouTube. You can set the quality of the video that accompanies the music that you are playing. Video size can be set to a maximum of 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p or 1080 p. The best video quality setting usually depends on the speed of your internet connection. A fast connection (5-10Mb) enables you to choose the 1080p quality, whereas for a slow connection (3G mobile, 1-3Mb), we recommend you choose the 240p quality. This will help to ensure constant streaming. In the latter case, your video will be the smallest size.
4. Report quality issues
You can report quality issues by clicking on the currently playing song and clicking on the exclamation mark icon.
Facebook integration
5. Who has checked in - those checked in and influencing the choice of music are shown on your place’s playlist.
6. Preferred by - each playlist item shows whose favorite it is and who voted for it. You can also see beneath the video who “requested” the song currently playing.
